About: The board of trustees at the University of Illinois is set to obtain UIC Class VI permits to build two carbon storage plants on already-built infrastructure. The storage plant attached to the Prairie State Generating Company's facility is currently conducting a FEED study of CO2capture using Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' KM Advanced Carbon Dioxide Recovery Process. The other plant, to be built near the One Earth Energy ethanol facility, will also perform a CO2 capture assessment. Together, these two projects will be able to store 6.5 million metric tons combined.
