Nitrogen Amine Molecules
Technology Owner: University of California, Berkeley; Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
About: A new way to capture CO2 from low-temperature steam. This process utilizes a highly porous material known as a metal-organic framework (MOF) that has been modified with amine molecules containing nitrogen. This allows for more CO2 to be captures from low temperature steam. This method has a six times greater capacity for removing CO2 from flue gas than current amine technology.
Application: Industrial Capture
Type: Post-Combustion
Utilization: Geologic Storage
Location: Berkeley, California
Partners: ExxonMobil
Categories: Technology, Geologic formations, Industrial Capture, Post-combustion, Permanent Sequestration, Lab, ALL
