Lab
Power-to-X Kopernikus Project
Technology Owner: Climeworks
About: The plant captures CO2 from ambient air in a cyclic process; Then the CO2 and water vapor is split to produce hydrogen and carbon monoxide, which can be used as a synthesis gas; The synthesis gas is converted to hydrocarbon molecules, the raw materials for fuel production; Finally the hydrocarbons are cracked to selectively choose which fuels are produced.
Application: Atmospheric Capture
Type: Direct Air Capture
Utilization: Synthetic hydrocarbons
Location: Germany
Partners: Climeworks, Ineratec, Sunfire, Karlsruche Institute of Technology
