About: The New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology will perform a commercial-scale assessment of a storage complex in order to accelerate the deployment of integrated CCUS technology at San Juan Generating Station, a nearby coal-fired electricity generation plant. Data collected from this assessment will be used in order to prepare, submit, and obtain a Class VI construction permit. The storage facility would capture 6-7 million metric tons of CO2 per year, 2 million of which is to be permanently stored while the rest of the CO2 will be transported for use in EOR.
