UCB CO2, Sunlight Hybrid Process
Technology Owner: University of California, Berkeley
About: A hybrid system of bacteria and nanowire that has the ability to harness sunlight and use it to convert CO2 and water into chemicals that can be used to create organic molecules. The nanowire are 1/100 the size of human hair and are made of silicon. They conduct solar energy and transport it to the bacteria, who complete the conversion. This process utilizes CO2 captured from the air.
Application: Atmospheric Capture
Type: Direct Air Capture
Utilization: CO2 to Chemicals
Location: Berkeley, California
